Total protection for your residence, contents and personal belongings, your legal liability towards third parties and employees (domestic servants).

Our Household Insurance policy is the answer to your worries. It provides you and your family with the total protection and peace of mind you are looking for.

The following is a summary of the cover, which is subject to various restrictions and limitations.
A copy of the policy giving full details of the cover may be examined on request.

Section 1: Buildings

Loss of or damage to the buildings against the following perils:

Fire, explosion, lightning, earthquake, tidal waves, volcanic eruption, subterranean fire, cyclone, storm, flood or inundation, subsidence or landslip, bursting or overflowing of water tanks, riots, strikes and malicious persons' acts, burglary and theft, impact, aircraft and damage caused by collapse of television aerials.

Buildings mean the private dwelling and the domestic quarters, garages and outbuildings on the same premises and used therewith. They are covered against the perils mentioned above.

  • Breakage of fixed glass and sanitary fixtures
  • Indemnity on a "new for old" basis 
  • Loss of rent receivable
  • Cost of removing debris and other expenses relating to rebuilding   
  • Interest of a contracting purchaser  
  • Cost of replacing locks to external doors and alarms following burglary.

Section 2: Contents


Contents mean the household goods and personal effects, belonging to you or any member of your family permanently residing with you. A detailed list of which must be filed with the company.

They are covered against the perils mentioned in Section 1 above, whilst contained in the buildings and when temporarily removed.

Free extra benefits:
  • Loss of cash by burglary up to Rs. 2,500   
  • Breakage of glass mirrors and sanitary fixtures   
  • Loss of rent and cost of alternative accommodation   
  • Fatal injury to insured and insured's spouse (Death Benefit up to Rs. 100,000)   
  • Accidental damage to radio, tv sets, video, hi-fi equipment, computers and peripheral   
  • Additional property up to 10% of the Sum Insured under this section.
Section 3: All risks on personal possessions

Personal possessions are covered against all risks of loss or damage worldwide except as excluded in the policy.

The following are some of the main exclusions:
  • Breakage of articles of a brittle nature  
  • Loss of or damage caused by electrical or mechanical breakdown   
  • Breakage of glass, overwinding, denting or internal damage of clocks, watches and precision instruments   
  • Loss of or damage to property left in a vehicle and not locked up safely in the boot. In the event of loss of  or damage to insured property safely locked up in a vehicle not equipped with a boot an excess of Rs. 2,500 of each and every claim will be applicable  
  • The first Rs. 500 of each and every accidental loss or damage claim.

Section 4: Personal Liability

To indemnify the insured or a related insured for any sum, which he shall be legally liable to pay as a result of an event in respect of bodily injury, damage to material property and any legal costs incurred with the written consent of the Company in the defence of a claim, within the territorial limits of Mauritius up to the limit provided under this policy, subject to the terms applicable.

Section 5: Employers’ Liability (domestic servants)

Under this section the insured is covered for his legal liability to any household employee under a contract of service for bodily injury or disease arising out of and in the course of his employment by the insured whether he may be an indoor servant, outdoor servant or a driver.
